Solar thermal

CESP can test glazed and unglazed thermal collectors, so-called hybrid PV-T collectors and concentration collectors.

CESP is accredited for thermal performance and reliability tests on solar thermal collectors according to standards EN 12975 and ISO 9806 (No. 1-2325 – scope of accreditation available on www.cofrac.fr).

Thermal performance tests

Performances of solar thermal collectors depend on many environmental parameters (irradiance, wind …) so it is essential to perform accurate measurements on all these parameters. At CESP’s facilities, thermal performance tests are carried out in outdoor conditions by the mean of a 2 axis solar tracker. Thermal performances are :

  • Thermal efficiency as a function of the fluid transfer temperature
  • Thermal capacity and time constant
  • Incidence angle modifier
  • pressure drop accross the collector

Fiability tests

Today, solar thermal collectors have an estimated lifespan of 20 years where they are subjected to extreme conditions such as wind, snow, rain, high temperatures … This is why it is essential to make sure that collectors are well-suited to these extreme conditions. CESP carries out all reliability tests according to ISO 9806 :
